If you celebrate Christmas and are looking for a place to worship, you’re invited to join us as we mark the birth of Jesus. You can come just as you are, whether you’ve been attending church your whole life, haven’t been in a long time, or have never stepped inside a church before. Everyone is welcome.
If you have any questions about our Christmas services listed below, or would like to be in touch with Rev’d Amanda for anything, you’re welcome to email us (stjohninthewildernesschurch@gmail.com) or leave a phone message (519-869-2403). Messages are checked regularly.
Saturday, January 21st
4:00 pm - Longest Night Service
This is a Christmas service designed for anyone who might be having a difficult time this year. It's held on the day of the year with the least amount of daylight, and therefore the "longest night" of the year. The service is in the style of Evening Prayer (no Communion), and includes readings, hymns, prayers, and candle lighting. Everyone is welcome, and there is no requirement for you to come forward and participate in any way if you don't want to. If you have any questions about what to expect, don't hesitate to be in touch by phone or email.
Tuesday, December 24th - Christmas Eve
7:00 pm - Family Service
10:00 pm - Candlelight Service
Both Christmas Eve services are Eucharist (Communion) services, and include readings, prayers, and hymns.
The prayers and readings at the 7:00 pm Family Service are geared toward young people.
The 10:00 pm service is a more traditional Christmas Eve service, and we will end in candlelight.
Wednesday, December 25th - Christmas Day
10:00 am - Holy Eucharist (Communion)
This tends to be a small, more quiet gathering, with Christmas hymns led on guitar. The service is similar to the 10:00 pm Christmas Eve service, with some slight changes.
